It has been two months since the release of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. While the film has broken several box office records it now trails behind Stree 2 in terms of earnings. When Pushpa 2 was released on December 5 it earned an impressive Rs 164.25 crore on its opening day across all Indian languages making it the film with the biggest opening day ever. During its first week the film amassed Rs 725.8 crore breaking records set by major films like Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan Aamir Khan’s Dangal Salman Khan’s films Gadar 2 and the blockbuster Stree 2. The film continued its impressive run eventually earning over Rs 850 crore in the Hindi market becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film. However a misstep by the makers may have affected the films final numbers. After achieving such a strong box office performance Pushpa 2 could have avoided this situation had they pulled the film from theaters sooner. On the 60th day the film’s earnings dropped significantly falling behind Stree 2. Take a look below: According to Sacnilk on Day 60 Pushpa 2 earned just Rs 7 lakh bringing its total box office collection to Rs 1233.62 crore. Meanwhile Stree 2 has earned Rs 597.99 crore in its lifetime which is less than half of what Pushpa 2 earned but on Day 60 Stree 2 earned Rs 25 lakh which is significantly higher than Pushpa 2’s Rs 6 lakh on the same day. In terms of worldwide earnings the official figures shared by the filmmakers show that Pushpa 2 has crossed Rs 1831 crore making it the second-highest-grossing Indian film globally just behind Dangal. For those who missed watching the film in theaters Pushpa 2 is now available on Netflix with 20 extra minutes of footage. Directed by Sukumar the film stars Allu Arjun Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles.
