The Ministry of Railways has launched a new SuperApp, 'SwaRail,' designed to consolidate all train services in one platform for the convenience of passengers. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), this app aims to bring together various Indian Railways services that were previously spread across different apps into a single, user-friendly interface.
The SwaRail app provides a range of services for train travelers, including the booking of reserved and unreserved tickets, platform and parcel reservations, train and PNR inquiries, and customer support via Rail Madad. Currently, the app is available for beta testing on both Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, with a full rollout expected after the testing phase is complete.
Once fully launched, and currently available for beta testers, the SuperApp offers a variety of services, including:
Indian Railways highlights that the new SuperApp also brings several travel assistance features designed to enhance user experience, including Single Sign-On and simplified onboarding. These features aim to make it easier for users to manage all their Indian Railways-related needs in one place.
Key features include:
Single Sign-On: This feature allows users to access all Indian Railways services with a single set of credentials. It also enables users to use the same login details across other Indian Railways apps, such as IRCTC RailConnect and the UTS Mobile App.
All-in-One App: Currently, passengers need separate apps for various services—one for reserved and unreserved bookings, another to check train schedules and movements. The new SuperApp consolidates all these functions into a single platform, offering a streamlined experience for users.
Easy Onboarding/Sign-Up: The new app simplifies the sign-up process by allowing users to log in using their existing RailConnect or UTS App credentials. This streamlined onboarding process makes the app easily accessible. Once logged in, users can conveniently access the app using either an m-PIN or biometric authentication for added security and ease.
For existing users of the RailConnect or UTS Mobile App, logging in will be seamless, as they can use their current credentials. New users, on the other hand, can quickly register with minimal data entry, making the sign-up process hassle-free.
