This woman was fourth Indian to win Miss World, was forced to work in C-grade films, husband ruined her life, faced domestic violence

There are several celebrities who rise to fame through sheer hard work and talent but often the glitz and glamour of the showbiz world can overshadow their true talent. Many models actors and other celebrities endure hardships behind the scenes dealing with challenges that the public may never fully understand. One such woman is Yukta Mookhey who achieved great heights after winning the Miss World crown but her life took a dramatic turn after her initial fame and success.
Yukta Mookhey was born in Bangalore but spent her early years in Dubai until the age of seven. In 1986 her family moved to Mumbai where she completed her schooling. She went on to study Zoology in college and even earned a diploma in computer science. Additionally Yukta Mookhey studied classical music for three years showcasing her versatility early on. However in 1999 she decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and entered the Femina Miss India contest where she was shortlisted as a contestant. Soon after she was crowned Miss India 1999 and her life took a new direction.
Later that year she was crowned Miss World 1999 becoming the fourth Indian woman to win the prestigious title after Reita Faria (1966) Aishwarya Rai (1994) and Diana Hayden (1997). Her victory was marked by several accolades including the Asia & Oceania’s Queen Of Beauty Award.
In 2008 Yukta Mookhey got engaged to Prince Tuli a New York-based businessman and financial consultant in Mumbai. They married soon after and had one son together. However their relationship took a dark turn in 2013 when Yukta Mookhey accused her husband and in-laws of domestic violence and harassment. This led to a police complaint in 2014 and the couple eventually obtained a consensual divorce.
Yukta Mookhey also tried her hand at acting making her Hindi film debut with Pyaasa in 2002 alongside Aftab Shivdasani. Unfortunately the film was a commercial failure and though she tried her luck in several regional films she struggled to find success. Eventually she was forced to star in some C-grade films.
Her most recent appearance was in a short role in the 2019 film Good Newwz starring Akshay Kumar Kareena Kapoor Khan Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.
