Despite securing a much-needed win against Brentford on Sunday,’s attention is going to be on the closing of the transfer window tonight as Spurs hope to bring in one or two more players.

It has been an uneventful month for Tottenham Hotspur so far, with only two signings made this January. Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso arrived early and late in the window respectively. Discussing before the Brentford game, Postecoglou said: “I think Kevin will be a great fit for us. We’re a little bit short at the back, have been for a while and he’s just really experienced, a good one-on-one defender.

"I’ve said before that getting new players in gives us energy and will give the group energy. I’m looking forward to him being part of the group.”

But Spurs are still in need of a centre-back, given the new injury to Radu Dragusin. There was plenty of talk of Tottenham moving to sign Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea. Disasi has struggled to find playing time under and could be looking for a move. However,

So, with less than 24 hours to go, who could Spurs turn to instead? over the weekend, but there are other names out there.

Tottenham could do well to sign David Hancko, the Slovakian centre-back at Feyenoord. The 27-year-old has played 1,710 minutes in the Eredivisie this season and has a 89.9% passing accuracy. Meanwhile, he has won 75.9% of tackles and 63% of duels.

Former Feyenoord defender Tim de Cler said of Hancko: “He is so stable and can basically do anything.” He added that he could “easily handle a club just below the top six in Europe”. Available for around €35million, he would be much cheaper than the bid they made for Guehi.

Alexsandro Ribeiro, 25, could also be a strong choice for Spurs. The Brazilian centre-back has been at Lille for three years and is confident playing off both feet. His tackle success and aerial win rate would make him a sensible transfer for Spurs who are in need of a versatile centre-back.

Ribeiro could also present a cheaper option, with his current value of €12million. However, while his contract at Lille is not set to expire until 2028, Spurs’ need for a centre-back could lead to a move this transfer window.

PSV Eindhoven’s Olivier Boscagli may be another centre-back option for Spurs this transfer window. The 27-year-old is worth €27million and ranks highly when it comes to long ball accuracy, tackles won and recoveries.

Boscagli’s contract expires in June and the Frenchman has proved adept at creating chances and winning duels (with a rate of 70.4%) suggesting he would be a strong addition to Postecoglou’s squad.
