Even on the morning of transfer deadline day there were claims that the Gunners were still in talks with Bayern Munich regarding a potential deal. At 19, Tel has already played 60 times in the Bundesliga and is Bayern’s youngest-ever goalscorer. After making 41 appearances for the club last season, the attacker has slipped down the pecking order this term and has started just two of Bayern’s 20 league matches this season.

He was omitted from the squad at the weekend for the 4-3 win over Holstein Kiel, and Tel may have played his last match for Bayern - certainly for this season, at least.
