Indian team's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reached Bangalore on Sunday before the Champions Trophy. Bumrah has been suffering from injury for some time and he will be scanned under the supervision of the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Bumrah's name is included in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy to be held on February 19, but his playing will depend on his fitness.
Bumrah can stay in NCA for three days
According to media reports, Bumrah will stay here for the next two-three days and the experts of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will submit their report to the chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Bumrah's participation in the Champions Trophy will depend on the scan report. Bumrah had a problem of back stiffness during the fifth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia last month, due to which he left the field.
Bumrah's playing in the Champions Trophy depends on fitness.
While announcing the team for the Champions Trophy last month, Agarkar had said that Bumrah has been forbidden to take a load for five weeks and he will get clarity about this fast bowler in early February. There is not much time left before the start of the Champions Trophy, so the selectors will have to decide on this soon. Harshit Rana has been selected in place of Bumrah for the three-match ODI series against England, if Bumrah is not fit then there is also a discussion about Harshit joining the team.
The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma has started preparations for the Champions Trophy. Before this ICC tournament, it has to play a three-match ODI series against England from February 6. A preparation camp has been organized in Nagpur before this series. After the series, the Indian team will leave for Dubai on February 15. India has to play all its matches in Dubai only.
