Azamgarh: The government is running various schemes to increase the income of farmers. Similarly, the government is also providing incentives so that farmers can increase their income by doing something different apart from farming. On one hand, the government is constantly trying to promote horticulture and is providing subsidies to connect farmers with it. In this sequence, the Uttar Pradesh government and the Government of India have initiated the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, in which the government will provide subsidies to farmers on the cultivation of dragon fruit and strawberries.
Farmers are being encouraged
According to the information received from Azamgarh District Horticulture Officer Harishankar Ram, farmers are being encouraged by the government to provide financial assistance to farmers and promote the cultivation of strawberries and dragon fruit. In this, the government will give subsidy of up to 1 lakh 60 thousand rupees to farmers for cultivating one hectare of dragon fruit.
He said that the cost of cultivating dragon fruit in 1 hectare field is 6 to 7 lakh rupees, in which the government earlier used to give incentive grant at the rate of ₹ 30 thousand / hectare, which has now been increased to 1 lakh 60 thousand rupees per hectare.

To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers will have to register on the website of Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Department. Aadhar card, Khasra-Khatauni, bank passbook, mobile number will be required for application. After registration, farmers will have to submit the necessary documents to the District Agriculture Officer's office.
