Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, reaffirmed the necessity for a nationwide caste census on Wednesday and said that he was looking forward to the day when Dalits and other marginalized groups hold top positions in all Indian institutions.
Gandhi also claimed that the BJP and RSS were against the Constitution, which protects the rights of Dalits and the oppressed, in a speech at the birth anniversary celebration of liberation fighter and Dalit hero Jaglal Choudhary here.
“Dalits and the oppressed do not participate in the current institutions and power structure of the nation… To determine the precise number of Dalits, minorities, and other disadvantaged groups in India, a caste census is required, he said.
Following his vote in the Delhi assembly elections, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha landed in Patna on Wednesday morning.
Gandhi said, “I will keep fighting for the cause of the downtrodden until the day comes when Dalits and weaker sections will hold leadership positions in every institution of the nation.”
