Yashavi Jaiswal, the star opener for India, has credited the IPL for enabling him to hit incredible sixes. During the bilateral Test series against England last year, Jaiswal made history by smashing the most sixes. After participating in five games, he has smashed 26 sixes, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s 2019 record of 19 sixes against South Africa.

At the same time, Jaiswal beat Brendon McCullum’s record of 33 sixes and struck 36 last year, breaking the record for most sixes hit in a single year. When questioned about the key to his six-hitting prowess, he gave gratitude to his IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals, for providing him with the ideal environment.

“The IPL has greatly aided me in honing my sixes, and I want to thank Zubin Bharucha in particular, sir, who has been a huge help to me in cricket over the past many years.” Additionally, I want to thank Rajasthan Royals for giving me a lovely setting so I can go ahead and get ready. In an interview with Forbes India, Jaiswal said, “I can say that this is the contribution of a lot of people and then I also practice a lot to hit sixes.”

When questioned about his eagerness to make his ODI debut following his outstanding performances in Tests and T20I, the young player said he was looking forward to it.

I would want to join the ODI team: Jaiswal

“I have no idea what will occur. Naturally, I’m thrilled. I would want to join the one-day team. I’m thrilled, but let’s see. I’ll be in the moment and do my best to accomplish whatever comes up,” he said.

He is included in the team for both the 2025 Champions Trophy and the three-match ODI series against England. Along with Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, he is the third opener. Whether Jaiswal receives his first ODI call-up against England will be intriguing to watch.
