Mercedes F1 sign world champion driver after who has already matched Lando Norris

Mercedes have snapped up wonderkid Ethan Jeff-Hall, who at just 16 has been signed for their junior team.

Last year, he followed in the high-speed tracks of by claiming the karting crown. Jeff-Hall dramatically secured the CIK-FIA World Championship title on the last lap of the final race in 2024.

Before him, stars like Norris, who took the title in 2014, and Vitantonio Liuzzi made history in that category before joining the elite. This year, the teen sensation is gearing up for his maiden outing in single-seaters after being confirmed as a young prodigy, reports Formula Scout.

He's set to burn rubber in the British Formula 4 championship, driving for Argenti Motorsport. When that move was confirmed he said: "Heading into the 2025 British F4 season with Argenti Motorsport, I'm excited and ready to face the challenge.

"Winning championships like Ginetta Juniors and the FIA World Karting title has taught me a lot about consistency, adaptability, and handling pressure at the highest level.", reports .

"I know British F4 is a big step up, but I feel confident that my previous experiences will help me quickly adapt to the car and the competition. I'm eager to learn, push myself, and aim for strong results from the start. It's a new chapter, and I'm ready to give it everything I've got."

Jeff-Hall has joined the star-studded Mercedes junior programme, which includes 2024 junior world karting champion Kenzo Craigie and runner-up James Anagnostiadis. The team's 2025 line-up also features female prodigy Luna Fluxa.

At the Formula 4 level, Alex Powell continues to fly the flag for Mercedes, having been with the team since 2019, while Chinese talent Yuanpu Cui remains with the Brackley-based outfit after a stint with Argenti Motorsport. Doriane Pin represents the team in , aiming for the title after missing out to the dominant Abbi Pulling in 2024.

For Jeff-Hall, there's hope he could one day represent the Silver Arrows on the F1 grid, given Mercedes' proven commitment to nurturing their junior drivers - as evidenced by their 2025 pairing of and , both of whom climbed the ranks within the team.

Antonelli's career path in particular will be one that every talented youngster within their ranks will want to emulate. Aged just 18, he was the once chosen by Mercedes boss to be fast-tracked into F1 to fill the sizeable void left by seven-time champion after the Brit's decision to leave for rivals .
