No Amrit Snan on Magh Purnima and Maha Shivratri: Maha Kumbh is known as a special religious festival of Hinduism. Maha Kumbh is organized every 12 years. Maha Kumbh is organized at the confluence of four holy rivers of India, Prayagraj, Ganga River in Haridwar, Shipra River in Ujjain, and Godavari River in Nashik. This time Maha Kumbh fair has been organized in Prayagraj.

This time only three Amrit Snans (Royal Baths) were valid in Maha Kumbh. The third and last Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh has ended on 3 February i.e. Vasant Panchami. On the day of Vasant Panchami, several lakh devotees including Akharas took Amrit Snan.

Now there is a doubt among the people that why there are only three Amrit Snans this time? Why the next baths to be held in Maha Kumbh, which will be on Magh Purnima and Maha Shivratri, have not been kept in the category of Amrit Snan. Let us know in detail.

Importance of Maha Kumbh Bathing

The bathing in Maha Kumbh is not only important from the religious point of view but also from the spiritual point of view. The significance of the bathing in Maha Kumbh is such that during this time, saints and other devotees take bath at Sangam and participate in various religious activities to attain spiritual peace and spiritual experience. It is believed that the holy bath taken in Maha Kumbh not only frees life from sins but also purifies the soul.

What do the planets and constellations say?

The Amrit bath organized in Maha Kumbh is determined by keeping in mind the planets and constellations. According to astrological calculations, the Amrit bath (royal bath) is valid when the Sun planet is in Capricorn and Jupiter planet is in Taurus. On the dates of Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Vasant Panchami, Jupiter's planet was in Taurus and the Sun God was in Capricorn.

On the other hand, on the day of Magh Purnima, Devguru Jupiter will be in Taurus but Sun God will transit in Aquarius. Therefore, the bath on Maghi Purnima will not be considered as Amrit Snan and will be considered as a normal bath. Similarly, if the Sun is in Aquarius on Mahashivratri, then the bath on this day will also not be called Amrit Snan.
However, bathing on Maghi Purnima and Mahashivratri is equally important and Maha Kumbh will end with the bath on Mahashivratri on 26 February.

Dates of the next bath of Maha Kumbh

12 February (Wednesday) - Bath, Maghi Purnima
26 February (Wednesday) - Bath, Mahashivratri
