They say that one’s misstep turns into another’s gain, and that is what exactly happened when the PlayStation Store accidentally leaked the release dates for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. According to the leak, the remake of the well-acclaimed stealth action game by Hideo Kojima is supposed to have a release date of 28th August this year for not only the PlayStation but for the PC too. Konami has previously showcased small snippets of the remake’s gameplay and it looks very promising, to say the least.
The remake meets the mark of what you expect the visual fidelity to be, with updated graphics, more lifelike character models, and environmental assets. This massive leap in graphics could be due to the fact that the game was built on Unreal Engine 5, which has resulted in better lighting, realistic textures, and smoother animations. The new engine means that the game receives some physics overhaul, with improved physics for environmental objects like grass and mud, that react to the world around them.
Sound design was something seriously underrated in the original game, being instrumental in immersing players in Naked Snake’s shoes. The remake grants a new opportunity for players to play the game with improved 3D audio to enhance immersion with dynamic sound effects and game music that reacts to players’ actions or their surroundings. With voice-overs that remain true to the original game, David Hayter returns to the role of Snake, along with the majority of the original cast members also returning.
Considerable emphasis has already been placed upon the remake to be close to the original game. Consequently, the level design, objectives, and overall structures were created with painstaking detail to allow fans of the original game to experience nostalgia while playing this new yet old game. Not all things remain the same though as several quality-of-life changes have been made not to say that the original game was poor in this regard however the new game promises to have smoother animations and more fluid character movements. The control scheme has also been updated along with the user interface to match modern gaming standards, making it accessible to a bigger audience.
The remake also keeps some of its additional charm with the Snake vs. Monkey mode, where players need to catch monkeys by stunning them with the “Monkey Shaker” gun and stun grenades. The first-person perspective option, a new feature for the game might come in handy as it allows the player to experience from Snake’s perspective not just for aiming but for the entire game.
