Mahakumbh Nagar: A massive fire broke out at a camp in Mahakumbh Nagar this morning. The fire has been brought under control, according to officials.
The fire, which was reported near Sector 18-19, gutted down several tents at the mela ground. There are no reports of any casualties yet.
"A fire broke out at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. However, firefighters have managed to bring the blaze largely under control," Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi of Khak Chowk police station told PTI.
He said fire department officials have arrived at the scene to oversee the operation.
Prayagraj is witnessing a massive influx of devotees ahead of Maghi Purnima -- which is considered a special bathing date -- on February 12.
Notably, over 77.20 lakh devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam by 8 PM on Thursday. Since January 13, approximately 40 crore devotees have participated in the Maha Kumbh.
