In his will, renowned former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, who died on October 9, 2024, allegedly bequeathed a fortune of Rs 500 crore to an unidentified individual. A research claim states that the inner circle is confused since few people are aware of the person’s connection to the recipient. According to Economic Times, the individual has been identified as Mohini Mohan Dutta, an entrepreneur.

At the age of 86, Ratan Tata died in the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. A period marked by extraordinary leadership, groundbreaking invention, and magnanimous generosity comes to an end with his passing.

Mohini Mohan Dutta is who?
Mohini Mohan Dutta is a businessman in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He was the owner of Stallion Travel Agency. It amalgamated with Taj Services, a division of the Taj Group of Hotels, in 2013.

The Tata Group controlled the remaining 80% of Stallion, with Mohini Mohan Dutta and his family owning the other 80%. In addition, Dutta served as a director of TC Travel Services, a former Thomas Cook subsidiary. According to ET, Mohini Mohan Dutta was a family friend and acquaintance of Ratan Tata.

There are two daughters of Dutta. For nine years, one of them was employed by Tata Trusts. Prior to it, she worked for Taj Hotels. Mohini Mohan Dutta used to say that he was close to Tata family members, according to sources cited by ET.

According to reports, he first met Ratan Tata at the Dealers’ Hostel in Jamshedpur when the latter was 24 years old. It had been sixty years since they first met. Ratan Tata “built me up,” he had said.

A Times of India report claims that Ratan Tata’s Rs 10,000 crore will include a number of assets, such as a two-story home on Mumbai’s Juhu Tara Road, a 2,000-square-foot beach bungalow in Alibaug, fixed deposits exceeding Rs 350 crore, and a 0.83 percent stake in Tata Sons, the parent company of the USD 165 billion Tata Group. The Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF) will receive these assets.
