Bumper opening: Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' earns ₹22 crore on Day 1

Ajith Kumar's latest action thriller, Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, has taken a strong start at the box office.

The film raked in ₹22 crore across India on its opening day, with a major chunk of ₹21.5 crore coming from Tamil Nadu alone.

The Telugu version contributed another ₹50 lakh to the overall collection.

On its opening day, Vidaamuyarchi registered an overall occupancy of 61.23% in Tamil Nadu, with night shows reaching 71.06%, reported Sacnilk.

However, the film's occupancy remained low in the Telugu and Hindi markets, at 12.82% and 16.02%, respectively.

Nevertheless, despite these numbers, the film has been able to make a strong start at the box office owing to its massive popularity in Tamil Nadu.

This excellent box office collection is despite the fact that the Tamil film was leaked on torrent sites within hours of release.

In Vidaamuyarchi, Kumar shares the screen with Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra.

Kumar and Krishnan play a married couple having difficulties in their relationship. The two take one last trip before calling it quits. However, Krishnan's character gets abducted, requiring Kumar to take extreme measures to bring her back.
