During a live broadcast by Zhang on Thursday, Wang called to express his dismay and confusion, according to Dimsum Daily.

“What have I done to deserve this? Why do you keep acting like this?” he demanded. “I curse your entire family!”

Zhang responded uncomfortably: “When did I ever say that?”

Rumors circulated online that Wang arranged and financed the jet from Japan to Taiwan, a service estimated to cost 400,000 yuan (US$55,000), following Hsu’s death at age 49 while vacationing with her family. Reports suggested Wang demanded Hsu’s remains be transported with dignity, not as regular cargo. Zhang apparently liked a social media post that propagated this rumor.

Furthermore, it’s alleged that Zhang’s godson repeatedly claimed Wang financed the jet. However, Hsu’s sister Dee, a Taiwanese host, debunked these claims through her manager on Thursday, asserting that the Hsu family managed all funeral details, including the private jet.

“I cannot understand why these false claims about Wang arranging the flight are circulating,” she stated. “The truth is clear, particularly now that my sister is watching over us.”

The Hsu family has openly criticized Wang, labeling the rumors as “disgusting” and accusing him of dishonesty.

Wang and Hsu were engaged in 2010, just 49 days after their first date, and wed in 2011. Despite Hsu often speaking positively of Wang, they announced their separation in 2021 due to “irreconcilable differences.”

Citing Mirror Media, The Straits Times reported that Hsu initiated divorce proceedings at a Taipei court in Nov. 2021. Speculations of their separation had been rife since June 2021, although Hsu’s mother initially denied any divorce.

Following their divorce, Hsu married South Korean musician DJ Koo in Feb. 2022, and Wang also remarried in 2024 to Mandy Ma, a 26-year-old businesswoman. Despite their new relationships, the former couple continued to face public disputes. Hsu accused Wang of infidelity and abuse, while Wang alleged Hsu used his credit card for lavish gifts for DJ Koo.

After the announcement of Hsu’s death on Monday, Wang interrupted his vacation in Thailand to travel to Taiwan with Ma. He commented on social media videos about Hsu, referring to her as “wife.”

Hsu gained fame from hit TV series like “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire.”
