Ahead of Saturday’s second ODI match against England at Barabati Stadium, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India landed in Cuttack early in the morning.

In Nagpur, the hosts defeated England by four wickets, giving them a commanding lead in the three-match series.

A video of the Indian team’s journey from Nagpur to Cuttack was shared on the BCCI’s official X account. After landing at the airport in Bhubaneswar, the crew boarded a bus to their accommodation.

Fans greeted the Indian team members with great enthusiasm as they arrived in the capital of Odisha. Before taking a trip to Bhubaneswar, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are seen in the video signing an autograph with a child.

Shubman Gill led India’s 249-run chase in the first game of the series with 87 runs and was named Player of the Match. Due to a painful right knee, senior batsman Virat Kohli was unable to be selected; hence, the hosts were without him.

He is anticipated to participate in the series’ second game on Sunday, however.

It’s not a big deal. He had no problems during practice yesterday, but this morning he woke up with some swelling in his knee. After the first ODI, Gill said, “He’ll definitely be back for the second ODI.”

It would be intriguing to watch who among Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal gets benched to make room for the older pro in the starting eleven if Kohli makes a comeback.

Iyer (59) and Axar (52) both hammered half-centuries in the previous match, but Jaiswal was unable to extend his debut knock above 15 runs, including three fours.

In the five ODI matches that India and England have played at the Barabati Stadium, India has won twice and England has won three.

Nineteen of the 21 ODI matches played at the Barabati Stadium as of February 2025 featured India. In these matches, India has won 12 and lost 7. India’s 2017 victory over England recorded the venue’s highest team total of 381/6, while South Africa’s 1993 victory against India set the lowest completed innings with 85 all out.
