08 Feb 2025
The Bollywood box office took a surprising turn this week as Himesh Reshammiya's action-comedy film, Badass Ravi Kumar, trumped Loveyapa.
Despite the latter starring star kids Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor in their theatrical debuts, it was Reshammiya's film that reigned supreme.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Badass Ravi Kumar raked in ₹2.75cr on its opening day, while Loveyapa made ₹1.25cr.
'Badass Ravi Kumar' triumphed despite limited promotion
Marketing strategy
Despite not having a star-studded promotional campaign, Badass Ravi Kumar managed to captivate audiences. The film relied on quirky marketing and chartbuster songs.
Apart from Reshammiya, it also stars Kirti Kulhari, Sanjay Mishra, Johny Lever, Sunny Leone, and Saurabh Sachdeva.
It has been directed by Keith Gomes.
'Loveyapa' struggled at the box office despite major marketing push
Box office performance
In stark contrast, Loveyapa, a romantic comedy starring Khan and Kapoor, failed to grab the attention of moviegoers.
Despite a massive marketing push—complete with a premiere event that reunited the iconic Three Khans of Bollywood—the film's box office performance has been underwhelming.
Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie is a remake of the Tamil hit Love Today.
