Alert for Android Users: Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in), Government of India has issued a high-professional security alert for Android users. This warning has been given due to many serious security weaknesses found in the devices running on Android 12 and subsequent versions, which can increase the risk of cyber attacks.

What is the danger?

According to CERT-in, hackers can target users' devices by taking advantage of some weaknesses in Android framework and chipset components. If these weaknesses are explored, then attackers

  • Sensitive data can steal.
  • Can enter the system unofficially.
  • Malicious code can run.
  • The device can crash (denial-off-service).

CERT-in says that this danger is one of the most serious cyber security risks, which can have a serious impact on users' devices and personal data.

How to save your smartphone?

To avoid cyber attacks, Cert-in suggested some important security measures:

Install the latest security update: Users using Android 12, 13, 14 and 15 should install the latest security update immediately. Keeping software updated is the most effective way to prevent cyber attacks.

On automatic updates on: Turn on the option to automatically download and install software and security updates on your device to protect against new cyber threats.

Avoid suspected links and third-party apps:

  • Avoid clicking on unknown or suspicious links.
  • Only download the app from Google Play Store.
  • Avoid downloading the app from third-party apps and unnovated sources, as they can contain malware.

Use strong password and 2fa: Set strong and unique passwords. Enable two-factor authentication (2fa) so that your account is more safe.

Manage app permission: Examine the permission given to the apps in your phone from time to time and allow only the necessary apps to reach sensitive data.

Be cautious with fishing attachment: Avoid sharing personal information sought in any unknown email, message or call.
If a suspicious link comes, first verify it.

Be cautious with cyber attacks!

Do not take this warning of Cert-in lightly. The smartphone has become an important part of our personal and professional life, and in such a situation its safety is very important. If you follow the safety measures mentioned above, you can avoid cyber threats and keep your data safe.
