On February 7, it hit the Hindi film market with Badass Ravi Kumar. It is a spin-off of Himesh Reshammiya’s film from 2014, The Xposé, which is a musical action comedy. Keith Gomes has directed the movie. But despite its very different theme of a retro spoof actioner, the film hasn’t managed to make much difference for itself at the box office.
By Day 5, the film’s collections continue to fall, with an estimated loss of ₹10 lakh. On its first Monday, the movie had earned ₹60 lakh, but it is expected to drop to ₹50 lakh on Tuesday. This will take its total earnings to over ₹7 crore net in India within five days.
Tough Competition and Underwhelming Performance
The film faces tough competition from Loveyapa and Sanam Teri Kasam, which again impacts its collections. Considering that the film’s collections are showing a downward trend, Badass Ravi Kumar would be another failure in Himesh Reshammiya’s career.
Reshammiya has acted in nine films till date and none of them have been a box office success. His debut film, Aap Kaa Surroor (2007), managed to win modest success, but one after the other, such films as Karzzzz, Radio, Damadamm!, and Khiladi 786 proved to be very less successful. His last film, Happy Hardy And Heer (2020) is a disaster.
Future of Box Office Looks Bleak
With steady erosion in collections, Badass Ravi Kumar looks far from reviving its fortunes. Reshammiya may be strong as a singer but films of the composer-actor do not fare too well commercially. If this one does not spring a surprise by rising from its slumber in collections, it is sure to close with yet another disaster under his belt as an actor.
