Some of the most romantic days of the year, the Valentine's Week, is here. As the name suggests, each if the seven days ahead of Valentine's Day on February 14th celebrates love in different ways. The sixth day of the Valentine's Week is called Hug Day and it is celebrated on February 12th every day.

A hug is more than just a physical embrace— it’s a silent way of expressing one's true emotions and it is sometimes louder than words. Whether it’s love or friendship, the way someone hugs you can reveal a lot about your relationship and their hidden feelings for you. 2. The one-sided hug
The one-sided hug reflects emotional distance or hesitation in a relationship. It happens when one person embraces fully to give a hug, while the other person doesn't reciprocate it-- and so, it should be considered a red flag. In relationships, this can indicate unresolved issues or fading affection and one should note them.

3. The back hug

Back hugs are often seen in romantic couples. They symbolise protection, trust, deep love, and emotional support among couples. It’s also a silent way of saying, “I’ve got your back" and it often reflect one's emotional closeness to their partner.

4. The side hug
Side hugs are often seen in friendships and are considered casual way of showing one's affection or comfort. This is the classic “buddy hug”, with one arm around the shoulder or waist. While it’s warm and friendly, it doesn’t necessarily indicate deep emotional intimacy. Whereas, in romantic relationships, giving too many side hugs can hint at fading passion and relationship.

If someone holds onto you for a little longer than usual, it means they miss you, care deeply, or need emotional comfort. These hugs are often exchanged between partners who are deeply in love or between friends who give strong emotional support-- thus acting as a silent reassurance.

6. The pat-on-the-back hug
The pat-on-the-back hug often means encouragement or friendly formality. Such hugs are often common in friendships or professional relationships where to comfort or congratulate others.

7. The head-on-chest hug
When someone rests their head on your chest while hugging, it shows a deep emotional connection and a sense of safety. This is most common in romantic relationships or close friendships where one person seeks comfort and protection. Such hugs signify one's vulnerability, trust, and close bond.
