Manchester, February 12 Jude Bellingham’s late goal capped Real Madrid’s incredible comeback. In the Champions League playoffs, Real Madrid twice overcame behind to secure a slim 3-2 first-leg lead against Manchester City.

Kylian Mbappe’s looping goal and Erling Haaland’s double, the second from the penalty spot with little over ten minutes left, seemed to have given City the advantage. But in a thrilling match, Bellingham scored from close range after Vinicius Jjnior’s excellent effort, and visiting substitute Brahim Díaz was the first to the rebound after an Ederson save to tie the score against his old team, according to Champions League.

After a heartbreaking last seven minutes, City has to win the second leg by at least a goal to at least even the aggregate scores and have any hope of moving further.

“Today was close, and we had opportunities at different points. We throw away a lot of games toward the end. It’s very challenging at that level. This is not the first time; it occurs often.

Errors occur in comparable regions. It is difficult to control. Players make snap judgments that sometimes succeed and occasionally don’t. We had the outcome in the last minute, but we were unable to maintain it.

“We performed a ton of excellent stuff. What it is is the outcome. Of course we accomplished a lot, but we can always do better and give the opposition credit for their talent,” City manager Pep Guardiola said.

In other news, Borussia Dortmund won 3-0 in Lisbon thanks to a strike from Serhou Guirassy, who scored his tenth goal of the season.

After sixty minutes, Guirassy headed home Julian Brandt’s cross to open the score after Maximiliano Araujo had struck the crossbar from a distance before halftime for Sporting.

Eight minutes later, Pascal Gross scored Dortmund’s first goal with a knee in response to Guirassy’s pass, and with eight minutes left, Karim Adeyemi and Brandt executed a deft one-two to slide in the third goal from a counterattack.
