The corpse was found in the Shahu Kahan neighborhood of Panjgur and was identified as belonging to Hayat, son of Sabzal, who resided in the Bug neighborhood of Turbat, according to The Balochistan Post.

The Balochistan Post reported sources that said that on July 3, 2024, the Pakistani military compelled Hayat to leave Turbat. His family staged a sit-in demonstration against his kidnapping in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office after he vanished. The rally was called off after talks and the Deputy Commissioner’s assurance that he would return safely.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and the victim’s family will hold a sit-in protest at Shaheed Fida Ahmed Chowk in Turbat, where Hayat’s corpse has been moved from Panjgur.

Importantly, according to The Balochistan Post, BYC has been demonstrating against the death of MPhil student Allah Dad Baloch by setting up a camp outside Fida Shaheed Chowk for the last three days.

Campaigners and human rights organizations denounced the event as well.

In a post on X, Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), denounced the occurrence, saying that extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances are serious violations of international human rights legislation.

“Pakistan must fulfill its obligations to protect the right to life and due process,” according to PAANK, which The Balochistan Post cited.

Earlier demonstrations demanding an end to alleged enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and the abduction of Baloch women took place in a number of Baloch cities.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized demonstrations around the province, while Baloch students in Islamabad and Uthal staged nonviolent protests, according to The Balochistan Post.

During shutter-down strikes, companies in Kalat, Mastung, and other cities stayed closed in solidarity. According to The Balochistan Post, demonstrators called for the UN and human rights organizations to intervene and make Pakistani authorities accountable.
