The first kissing scene of Hindi cinema was picturised in the 1933 film Karma and featured actors Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai. The duo was married in real life.

It was a black and white film and is said to be Bollywood’s first and longest kiss, lasting for four minutes. The scenario depicted a princess attempting to revive her comatose boyfriend with a kiss.

Earlier, filmmakers were hesitant to showcase kissing on-screen. However, over the years, this changed drastically and several films have set new standards for bold scenes in Bollywood.

The film which currently holds the title of the most kissing scenes is Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan’s 2013 thriller film 3G which had a staggering 30 kissing scenes. However, despite this, the film failed to perform at the box office.
