Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), said on Wednesday that Ashok Siddharth, the father-in-law of her nephew Akash Anand, had been expelled from the party due to accusations of factionalism and anti-party activity.
Mayawati’s political successor, the BSP, has a 30-year-old national coordinator named Anand. Anand was fired by Mayawati last year, but she eventually reinstated him and named him as her political heir. Along with Nitin Singh, the BSP district in-charge for Meerut who was in charge of party activities in the southern states, Siddharth, a former Rajya Sabha MP, was also expelled.
Mayawati said on X that “Reshri Nitin Singh, District Meerut, and Dr. Ashok Siddharth, former MP, have been expelled from the party in the interest of BSP for engaging in anti-party activities.”
Following the BSP’s dismal showing in the Delhi Assembly elections, when its candidates were unable to hold onto their deposits in each of the seats they ran for, the party was expelled.
The governing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 22 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, while the BJP won 48 of the 70 seats. Its account was not opened by the Congress.
