“Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language. He is handed a two-match touchline ban as a result,” the .

However, that line was quickly removed from the suspension article and it appears a decision has not yet been made regarding the length of Slot’s ban. Liverpool hosts Wolves on Sunday before facing Aston Villa in a rearranged Premier League match next Wednesday. It was originally due to be played in mid-March but has been moved forward to due to the Reds' involvement in the Carabao Cup final. It’s not clear if Slot will be on the bench for either of the Wolves or Villa games.

According to Daily Mail journalist, the length of the ban depends on whether the FA deems it a 'standard case' with a set sanction or 'non standard', which results in a hearing. It is suggested it could be the latter, because Slot has already served a touchline ban this season. And that would take longer to resolve before this weekend's matches.

Slot had previously been suspended for one game in December after receiving three yellow cards in the Premier League which forced him to sit out a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton which Liverpool won 2-1.

The Liverpool boss was one of four red cards on Wednesday, with assistant Spike Hulshoff, Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure after the full-time whistle .

Meanwhile, the 2-2 draw at Goodison means Liverpool extended its lead at the top of the table but failed to move nine clear of second-place Arsenal.
