The highly anticipated series Dope Girls premiers on BBC One tonight (February 22), boasting a talented female-led cast.
The show is set in the vibrant and decadent world of 1918 Soho, where a group of women dominate the nightlife scene in post-World War II London. Drawing inspiration from real-life events, the BBC has billed it as the "spiritual successor to Peaky Blinders".
At the heart of is Kate Galloway, a character based on the infamous Irish nightclub owner Kate Meyrick, also known as the 'Night Club Queen'. American actress Julianne Nicholson brings Kate to life, having previously showcased her talents in a diverse range of films and TV shows.

Born in Massachusetts, Julianne began her career in the spotlight as a model in New York City and Paris. After studying in NYC, she landed her breakthrough acting role and has since been steadily working in TV and film.
Julianne tied the knot with British actor Jonathan Cake in 2004, after meeting on the set of an unaired HBO pilot. They have a son and daughter together.
Jonathan also boasts an impressive acting resume, featuring appearances in Desperate Housewives and Empire, as well as portraying Oswald Mosley in the film Mosley.
Jonathan heaped praise on his wife's acting talents in a 2010 interview with Broadway World, saying: "I know I'm biased, but she's the most amazing actor I've worked with. This is not just me; if you talk to any actor who's worked with her or knows her, she is so revered amongst the profession."
Julianne might have a familiar face to TV and movie fans, as she has taken on a number of different roles over the years. She made her mark in indie cinema with roles in films like Tully and Seeing Other People during the late '90s and early '00s.
