Rising star Mirra Andreeva captured the Dubai Tennis Championships title with an emphatic 7-6, 6-1 victory over Clara Tauson in the final. In doing so, the Russian ace became the youngest tennis player to win a WTA 1000 tournament. Andreeva showcased her resilience and superior shot-making to claim one of the biggest wins of her career.

The 17-year-old also broke new ground as only the second teenager -- male or female -- to win the Dubai event since its inception in 1993, after Rafa Nadal in 2006.

The first set was tightly contested, with both players battling through intense rallies. Andreeva’s strong serving and clutch play in key moments allowed her to edge out Tauson in a tense 7-6(1) tiebreak. From there, the Russian completely dominated the second set, breaking her opponent multiple times to cruise to a 6-1 win.

This triumph marks another milestone for Andreeva, who continues to rise rapidly in the WTA rankings, cementing a spot in the World Top 10 rankings next week.

"I'd set a goal for myself to be in top 10 by the end of the year. Now it's the end of February and I've already made it, so this is something incredible for me," Andreeva said after the match. "I'm just super happy with the way I was playing today. I was (very) nervous. I think you could see it during the match with all those double faults, some mistakes.

"So I'm just really happy that I could manage and deal with the pressure. And now it just feels amazing... This is something I dreamt of and now my dream came true so I'm just, I'm speechless right now."

The Russian beat three Grand Slam champions -- Marketa Vondrousova, Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina -- to reach the final.

Tauson, meanwhile, bested World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Linda Noskova, and Karolina Muchova in the lead-up to the final.

"I feel like I played not very well," she admitted at the post-match press conference. "But I know my body was really tired after the past couple days. I've never played on this level seven days in a row. It was really tough for me to even get out there. I tried to give it my all. But my tank was pretty empty, unfortunately."
