Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor but an emotion to a lot of people. Over the years the actor made a name for himself in the Bollywood industry. However while today we hail King Khan there was a time when he went through major ups and downs. The actor made his debut in 1992 with the film Deewana. The movie featured Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor. Though Shah Rukh gained recognition the kind of fame and love he received came after Deewana. Do you know that there was a film rejected by Anil Kapoor Salman Khan Akshay Kumar and even Arbaaz Khan because the role offered to them had completely grey shades which these leading actors did not want to portray? However later the role was offered to Shah Rukh Khan and it made him an overnight star. Yes you read that right! We are talking about the film Baazigar. The action-thriller helmed by Abbas-Mustan and released in 1993 made SRK an overnight sensation. The movie is loosely based on Ira Levins 1953 novel A Kiss Before Dying. During that time taking on a grey-shaded role meant the actor would be stereotyped and eventually receive similar film offers. However SRK took the risk and it paid off well. According to news reports Shah Rukh Khan was not the first choice for Baazigar. The film was initially offered to several stars including Salman Khan Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. Furthermore the theme of a lead actor killing the lead actress in the film did not sit well with distributors. Actor Dalip Tahil the main antagonist of Baazigar revealed in an interview that a trial screening held for distributors did not end well. He said Log trial pe aate the hum sab hote the—Shah Rukh Abbas-Mustan Ratan Jain (producer) lekin koi khareedne ko tayyar nahi. Sab picture dekhne ke baad bhaag jaate. Made for Rs 4 crore Baazigar was a superhit and earned Rs 32 crore in India. This made the SRK-starrer the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
