At Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday, Lakshya Rachaprolu enthralled the crowd with a captivating Kuchipudi Arangetram. The event, which was organized by the Trishna Kuchipudi Dance Academy, was a magnificent demonstration of talent and tradition that demonstrated Lakshya’s strong devotion to classical dance.
Lakshya, a follower of renowned Natyaguru Dr. Alekhya Punjala, won praise and accolades for his exquisite fusion of rhythmic and expressive Bhava techniques. Her love of dancing has never wavered, even while she pursues an M.Tech in Space Engineering at IIT Indore, which has led to this amazing debut performance.
“Amma Ananda Dayani,” a composition by Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna dedicated to Maha Ganapathi, captivated the crowd as the recital began. Siddhendra Yogi’s masterwork Bhama Kalapam, which was played in Kambhoji and Bhairavi ragas, was the high point. She also made a lasting impact by showcasing the classic works of Tyagaraja and Bhakta Ramadasu. Vrindavani Tillana’s performance came to a close, providing a fitting capstone to her magnificent debut.
Prominent attendees praised Lakshya for her extraordinary talent, including Dr. Prathibha Prahlad, a Padma Shri laureate and Central Sangeet Natak Academy recipient. Additionally in attendance were Kalakrishna, a Kuchipudi supporter, and Dr. J. Geeta Reddy, the working president of the Telangana PCC.
With Kanakam Chander Rao on vocals, R. Vinod Kumar on Mridangam, K. Saikumar on violin, VBS Murali on flute, Sai Prasad on Veena, Dr. Srikanth on Nadaswaram, and Mallikarjun (Tavil), the live orchestra enhanced the evening. The grandeur was enhanced by Vachaspati Muralikrishna’s commentary, Basavaraju’s lighting effects, and Sudarshan’s grooming.
In a sincere homage to her instructor, Lakshya and her parents, Professor E. Sudharani and R. Ravikumar, presented Dr. Alekhya Punjala with Guru Puja. The occasion was a celebration of commitment, self-control, and Kuchipudi’s enduring beauty.
