Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her Hindi debut alongside this villain, movie earned twice its budget, yet it was a flop

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who won Miss World 1994 pageant started her career with 1997 film Iruvar and had her Hindi film debut in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya that year. Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya also featured Bobby Deol Shammi Kapoor and Anupam Kher. It was directed by Rahul Rawail. The director is known for movies like Love Story Betaab Arjun Bekhudi and Jo Bole So Nihal. 153-minute film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya was made on a budget of Rs 6.25 crore and the film earned Rs 13.85 crore at the worldwide box office i.e. double its budget. But it was still called a flop movie. After this film Aishwarya Rai was seen with Bobby Deol in the 2002 hit film 23 March 1931: Shaheed. The movie failed big time at the box office. After this this pair was never seen together on the big screen. Aishwarya Rai Bachchans first commercial success was the Tamil romantic drama Jeans in 1998 which was the most expensive Indian film at the time. Made on a budget of Rs 20 crore the movie was commercially successful. Director S. Shankar revealed that the films box office performance improved over time. Aishwarya was then seen in Aa Ab Laut Chalen Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Taal and Josh in the same year 1999.
