Colleen Hoover, the acclaimed author of popular young adult and romance novels such as It Ends With Us, Verity, and Ugly Love, has revealed her top 10 favourite books.

The list, which spans genres from poetry to historical fiction, may surprise fans expecting a selection mirroring her own writing style.

unveiled Hoover's eclectic list, noting that the average member has only read one out of the ten books she recommends.

Topping her list is Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.

This 1974 collection of children's poetry, described as "outrageously funny and deeply profound", boasts an impressive average score of 4.34 from 1,459,812 ratings on Goodreads.

It's Me, Margaret (which was adapted into a film starring Rachel McAdams in 2023), is the second book on Hoover's list.

Published in 2015, the novel follows protagonist Miri Ammerman through two timelines: the present day, as she attends a commemoration of the worst year of her life, and 35 years prior, reports

The book holds an average rating of 3.57 across 70,607 reviews.

Another of her picks was Caroline Kepnes' Hidden Bodies, the follow-up to You and muse for hit featuring Penn Badgley.

The novel has polarised fans, with one Goodreads critique reading: "I'm sorry, but this book was not good at all. A super unnecessary sequel that lost absolutely everything that made You such a hit.

"I don't think it's possible for me to be more disappointed. This is one of my least favorite books I've ever read."

Nevertheless, across 84,865 reviews, it maintains an average rating of 3.74.

Adding to the assortment of acclaimed works is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, another of Colleen Hoover's endorsed reads.
