Fiorentina has confirmed that Moise Kean has been discharged from hospital following a scary incident on the pitch against Hellas Verona. Kean, formerly of Everton from 2019 to 2021, was following a collision with Hellas pair Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola.

The replay highlighted the moment Dawidowicz's knee inadvertently struck Kean's head whilst the pair challenged for possession.

Despite receiving medical attention on the pitch for a cut above his eye, Kean returned to play, only to alarmingly drop to the ground in the 67th minute without moving, which led to immediate medical intervention.

The 24-year-old Italian international was administered oxygen, immobilised with a neck brace and stretchered off the field before being transported by ambulance for overnight observation.

A positive update on Kean's situation was shared on Monday morning with Fiorentina's writing: "ACF Fiorentina announces that Moise Kean was discharged from the Verona hospital during the night and returned to Florence. The clinical and diagnostic tests carried out were all negative."

After the unnerving delay, the match resumed at 0-0 before Hellas Verona secured a last-gasp victory. Substitute Antoine Bernede snatched a decisive goal in the closing moments, lifting Hellas up three spots in Serie A's standing while Fiorentina remains in sixth place.

Kean joined La Viola at the start of this season after his second stint with Juventus. The Italian has netted an impressive 19 goals in 29 matches, having signed in a deal worth an initial £10.8million that could increase to £14.9m.

Kean's incident marks the second time a Fiorentina player has experienced a health scare this season. In December, midfielder Edoardo Bove was urgently taken to hospital and placed in intensive care following a cardiac arrest during their match against Inter Milan.

Bove, 22, is on the road to recovery after being fitted with a defibrillator and was present in the stands for Sunday's away match against Hellas. Unfortunately, Serie A rules prohibit players with a defibrillator from participating, which affects the midfielder who is on loan from Roma.

Next up for Fiorentina, who have now suffered three consecutive losses, is a home match against relegation-threatened Lecce. Raffaele Palladino's team will then face Greek heavyweights Panathinaikos in the last 16 of the Conference League over two legs, sandwiched by a trip to title contenders Napoli. This forms part of a challenging run in Serie A where they will encounter four of the top seven.
