How New Zealand’s victory against Bangladesh shapes India and Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 fate

New Delhi: India booked their spot in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals following New Zealands comprehensive victory over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday. Rachin Ravindra scored a brilliant century after a sensational bowling performance from Michael Bracewell as New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets. The result also meant that New Zealand became the second team from Group A to book their spot in the knockout stages of the competition. However it also meant that Bangladesh and Pakistan were eliminated from the competition as both teams have two losses each. India will face New Zealand in their final group stage match while Bangladesh will take on Pakistan but both encounters will have no significance other than deciding which team will top the group en route to the semifinals. New Zealand secured a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in a Champions Trophy Group A match on Monday which allowed both New Zealand and India to advance to the semifinals of the tournament. This result also eliminated Bangladesh and the host team Pakistan who have both suffered defeats in their two matches. India and New Zealand have each earned four points from their two victories in Group A. The two teams that finish at the top of each group will advance to the semifinals. Rachin Ravindra scored an impressive 112 runs as New Zealand successfully pursued a target of 237 finishing the match with 23 balls remaining. Tom Latham and Devon Conway contributed 55 and 30 runs respectively helping New Zealand score 240 for 5 in 46.1 overs. Michael Bracewell took four wickets helping New Zealand limit Bangladesh to a total of 236 for 9 despite a notable innings of 77 runs from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Bracewell took the wickets of Tanzid Hasan (24) Mushfiqur Rahim (2) Mahmudullah (4) and Towhid Hridoy (7) who had scored a century in Bangladeshs previous match finishing with impressive bowling figures of 10 overs 0 maidens 26 runs and 4 wickets.
