New Delhi: Ellyse Perry the star all-rounder for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made history in her teams important Womens Premier League (2025) match against UP Warriorz at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday February 24. Looking to bounce back after their initial loss of the season to the Mumbai Indians (MI) the reigning champions faced an early setback when captain Smriti Mandhana was out for just six runs off nine balls dismissed by her rival Deepti Sharma in the fourth over of the game. Perry maintained her impressive performance by scoring a half-century and forming a 100-run partnership with Danielle Wyatt who achieved her first half-century in the WPL. During the match Perry surpassed Meg Lanning to become the leading run-scorer in the leagues history. She also exceeded the 800-run threshold making her the first player in the Womens Premier League to reach this achievement. Perry scored a half-century marking the 7th time she has reached this milestone in the leagues history. This accomplishment ties her with Lanning who also has recorded the same number of scores exceeding 50 in the tournament. Perry claimed the orange cap during RCBs championship season in 2024 scoring 347 runs across nine innings with an average of 69.40. Currently she is at the top of the run-scorers list for the 2025 season having reached 200 runs. In the first season of 2023 she accumulated 253 runs in eight innings. Before the match RCB received significant news as it was confirmed that Perry is ready to bowl after serving as a specialist batsman in the initial three games of the season. Last year she established the record for the best bowling performance in the leagues history achieving figures of 6/15 against the Mumbai Indians. In the match Perry scored an unbeaten 90 runs off 57 balls contributing to RCBs total of 180. This score ranks as the joint-third highest individual score in the history of the tournament.
