On February 26 2025 as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) observe a holiday on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. This will mark the first stock market holiday of the year. Stock Market Maha Shivratri Holiday On February 26 all trading activity across various segments including equity equity derivatives currency derivatives interest rate derivatives commodities and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) will remain suspended. Normal trading operations will resume on Thursday February 27 2025. Stock Market Holiday List 2025 As per the holiday list announced by the exchanges there will be a total of 14 market holidays in 2025. February: 1 holiday (Maha Shivratri). March & August: 2 holidays each. April & October: 3 holidays each (the highest for the year). May November & December: 1 holiday each. Investors and traders have witnessed a challenging start to the year with the Sensex and Nifty under pressure over the past two months.
