Whenever we go to Mathura for a trip, we definitely buy pedas. In such a situation, if you have forgotten, you can prepare them at home. 

Mathura's sweets are very popular. Whoever goes to visit here, definitely buys peda. It is not just a sweet but also a pure prasad. It is said that Lord Krishna liked this prasad very much, since then there is a tradition of making peda here.

It is believed that Lord Krishna loved Mathura's Peda, so this sweet has been used in religious ceremonies and as a prasadam. If you also want to enjoy this special sweet at home, then we will tell you its traditional and authentic recipe.

Mathura Peda recipe

  • First of all, keep the ingredients mentioned above ready. Then heat ghee in a pan. After heating ghee, add mawa to it and fry it on low flame while stirring continuously.
  • Roast for about 15-20 minutes, until the mawa turns light brown and starts emitting fragrance. Make sure that the mawa does not burn, so keep the flame low and keep stirring continuously.
  • When the mawa is completely roasted, take it out in a plate and let it cool down. When it becomes slightly lukewarm, add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to it.
  • Mix it well so that all the ingredients are combined. Make small balls from the mixture and press them lightly to give them the shape of pedas.
  • Traditional Mathura Peda is round in shape and slightly flattened. Sprinkle roasted khoya over the prepared Pedas to make their taste and look even more attractive.
  • Now leave them open for a few hours so that their texture becomes right. Mathura Peda is completely ready.
  • These can be served immediately or stored in an airtight container . They stay fresh for 7-10 days.
