People believe that the Shivling situated in the ancient Shiva temple built on the banks of Ganga Ghat in Palhna village in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh changes its color three times a day. The priest of the temple even claims that when Mughal invader Aurangzeb attacked the Shivling of the temple with a sword, a stream of blood came out of the Shivling. People say that even today some part of the Shivling present in the temple and the broken statue of Nandi give evidence of the attack by Aurangzeb.

Many stories related to the ancient Shiva temple of Palhna village situated on the banks of river Ganga are still very popular. No one knows when and who established the Shivling in the temple, it is believed that this temple was built centuries ago. The mysterious Panchmukhi Shivling present in the temple changes its color three times a day. If the local people are to be believed, all the wishes of the people are fulfilled by worshipping and visiting the temple with devotion.

When the chief priest of the temple, Siyaram Baba, was talked to about the beliefs related to the Shivling situated in the temple, he said that years ago during the Mughal period, this temple was also attacked by the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. During this time, after breaking the statue of Nandi situated outside the temple along with many other small and big statues, when Aurangzeb attacked the Panchmukhi Shivling situated in the temple with his sword, a stream of blood started flowing from it, due to which Aurangzeb got scared and left from here. Also, regarding the matter of the Shivling changing its color, he claimed that he has seen with his own eyes the Panchmukhi Shivling present in the temple changing its color many times.
