The South Korean government announced that visitors from overseas can now submit their arrival cards online up to three days in advance in an effort to simplify immigration procedures.
Previously, they were required to manually fill out paper arrival cards at the airport, with immigration officers scanning each form individually, a process many found time-consuming, according to The Korea Herald.
“The online arrival card is expected to enable the government to manage foreign visitor data more systematically. It will not only ease congestion at airports but also support efforts to attract more foreign tourists,” the ministry stated on its website on Feb. 24.
Arrival cards are required for foreign nationals visiting South Korea for 90 days or less.
Travelers can complete and submit the new electronic arrival card at the official website www.e-arrivalcard.go.kr up to three days before arrival, Yonhap News Agency reported.
An electronic arrival card will lose its validity if the traveler does not enter South Korea within 72 hours of submission.
