The year 2025 is turning out to be an exciting one for Indian cricket with a plethora of young talents marking their rise with some notable performances both in domestic and international cricket. In the transition phase which Team India has been gradually going through, some players have shown their impeccable skills in a bid to take the baton from and carry on the legacy of some finest players who are on the verge of bidding adieu to their illustrious careers.

Having said that, this year some youngsters got the chance to break into the national team, especially in the white-ball format. Ravishing strokes and unfazed hitting prowess, Yashasvi Jaiswal who became one of the most promising young batters in the country, made his ODI debut for the Blue Brigade on February 6 against England in Nagpur. After having shown his calibre in the red-ball format against the likes of Mitchell Starc, the youngster was finally given a chance to feature in the ODI set-up as well. Though he failed to convert his initial start into a big knock in the only game he got in Blue colours.

Notably, the southpaw is among the only few Indian batters who have scored a century in the T20I format. Hence, despite not having scored big in his debut ODI game, he has shown his white-ball potential. Especially, in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he scored his maiden hundred in the 2023 edition against a formidable Mumbai Indians bowling lineup. Hence, with his ability to adapt to different conditions and a bright future ahead, Jaiswal is deemed to be another legend in the making.

Pacer Harshit Rana came to the fore in the international cricket arena in the white-ball formats at the beginning of 2025. Notably, the pacer who can be a handy batter as well, made his T20I debut for Team against England in January and a week later made his ODI debut in Nagpur on February 6. What's remarkable about Rana is the fact that he is the first Indian bowler to have taken three-wicket hauls across all the formats while on debut.

Harshit Rana's inspirational journey from the domestic circuit to rising to the international scene has been nothing short of praiseworthy. Depicting hard work, skills and sheer passion for the game, the pacer has performed in pressure situations. Be it cartwheeling Travis Head in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to rattling England on his ODI debut, the Delhi lad has come up the ranks to become one of the exciting fast bowlers in the Indian unit.

The rising star and mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, has been in ominous form with the ball in the shorter formats of cricket. His consistent performances in the T20 leagues and T20I cricket meant that he was eventually elevated to make his much-awaited debut for Team India in the 50 overs aka ODI format against England in the recent series played at home. Notably, the spinner made his debut on February 9, in Cuttack. In that game, even though he picked up only one wicket, on a pitch where most of the bowlers leaked runs, he kept the English batters under check.

What's more fascinating is the fact that Chakravarthy was accommodated into the India squad for the ICC mega event aka Champions Trophy owing to his impact on the team. Given the playing conditions in Dubai, where the Men In Blue will play all their matches, Chakravarthy is known for his subtle variations which can rattle any opponent on his day and hence he is expected to make a significant in India's Champions Trophy campaign.
