Pop sensation Katy Perry is all set to be a part of the all-female six-member crew of the 11th human flight of the New Shepard program, Blue Origin announced on Thursday.
On the star-studded journey, Perry will be joined by CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez, who is the fiancee of Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos, NBC News reported.
The NS-31 mission will see Perry, Sanchez and King flying to the space along with former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, movie producer Kerianne Flynn and bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen.
According to AFP, the flights usually last for only 10-11 minutes starting from liftoff to landing. During the journey, passengers get to experience microgravity once their capsule goes past the Karman line, which is 100 kilometres above the sea level and is widely recognised as the boundary of space.
After reaching the peak level, the rocket booster then starts its upright vertical landing, while parachutes are deployed from the capsule for a gentle touchdown in the desert in US state of Texas.

Between 2022 to 2024, the company paused the mission after an accident during an uncrewed launch, wherein the rocket booster had crashed to the ground.
The New Shepard rocket has been named after Alan Shepard, who was the first American to be in space.
Till date, Blue Origin has flown a total of 52 people to suborbital space across its 10 crewed missions. The launch takes place from its Launch Site One in West Texas.
