What are its features?
This account can be opened with a minimum deposit amount of Rs 1000 and a maximum deposit amount of Rs 2 lakh. This account can be opened for two years. Let us tell you that the interest rate for the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme is 7.5 percent per annum, which is compounded every quarter and deposited in the account. The facility of partial withdrawal and premature closure on compassionate grounds is also available in this scheme.
Who can open an account?
Any woman can open an account under the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme. Guardians can also open accounts for minor girls. Talking about premature withdrawal, account holders are eligible to withdraw up to a maximum of 40% of the total amount after the expiry of one year from the date of opening the account.
A customer can open multiple accounts under this scheme, although the second account can be opened only after a gap of three months from the date of opening the first account. However, the total deposit amount, including all accounts, should not exceed Rs 2 lakh. The nomination facility is available for a maximum of 4 nominees per account.
