Shikhar Dhawan, a former opener for India, believes that Shubman Gill, who is currently playing well, has a bright future for the Men in Blue. During the current ICC Champions Trophy, the young player has been playing well.

In the match against bitter rivals Pakistan, Gill scored 46 runs, whereas in the first match against Bangladesh, he scored an undefeated century. He has outscored Virat Kohli (122 runs) to become India’s highest scorer with 147 runs in two games.

I really think Shubman Gill’s batting is amazing; it’s elegant and sophisticated. Additionally, there is consistency, and it is pleasing to see the high level of professionalism. These young lads are making back-to-back runs and are adept at their roles. Dhawan said on Star Sports, “He has a fantastic present and future for India.”

“Rohit must be sharing his many years of expertise with the kids he likes to play with. He must be giving them a pat on the back and instructing them on how to play in certain scenarios. These little exchanges are crucial,” he said.

Despite without pace leader Jasprit Bumrah, Dhawan said that his absence will be felt but also that Harshit Rana has a great chance to solidify his spot in the ODI squad. So far in the competition, Rana has taken four wickets.

“Jasprit Bumrah is a very well-known bowler. There, he consistently delivers excellent performances. His presence was obviously much missed. I really believe that his presence is crucial, regardless of what others may think. The platform is excellent for Harshit Rana. I appreciate how he takes wickets, and he is aggressive and passionate. He has a great potential with Virat’s help and Rohit’s supervision. The previous opener advised him to keep this chance and learn from them.

India will play New Zealand in their last group match on March 2 after securing their semi-final position in Group A with back-to-back victories over Bangladesh and Pakistan.
