Last year in her first-ever interview Vivian Jenna Wilson the transgender daughter of tech billionaire Elon Musk opened up about her strained relationship with her father accusing him of being absent unsupportive and even cruel during her childhood. Speaking with NBC News Wilson 20 responded to Musk’s public statements about her transgender identity saying they crossed a line. Elon Musk’s Controversial Remarks Last year Musk referred to Wilson as “not a girl” and claimed he was “tricked” when he authorized trans-related medical treatment for her when she was 16. He also described her as “dead” to him saying the “woke mind virus” had taken her away. Wilson however strongly refuted Musk’s statements emphasizing that her father wasn’t tricked. “He knew what he was doing” she said explaining that her treatment required parental consent and Musk had initially hesitated but ultimately approved. “I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged” Wilson said. “Which I’m not going to do because if you’re going to lie about me like blatantly to an audience of millions I’m not just gonna let that slide.” Elon Musk’s Relationship With Transgender Daughter According to an NBC News report Wilson described her father as cold quick to anger and largely absent throughout her life. Despite having joint custody with her mother Justine Musk Wilson said Musk was rarely present leaving her and her siblings in the care of nannies or their mother. “He was cold. He’s very quick to anger. He is uncaring and narcissistic” she said. She also recounted incidents from her childhood when Musk berated her for being feminine and pressured her to appear more masculine. “When I was in fourth grade we went on this road trip I didn’t know it was just an advertisement for one of the cars and he was constantly yelling at me because my voice was too high” Wilson said. “It was cruel.” Who Is Vivian Jenna Wilson? Wilson who is currently a college student studying languages made headlines in 2022 when she filed court papers to change her name legally severing ties with her father. “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way shape or form” she stated in the court filing. Reflecting on the media attention that followed Wilson said she stood by her decision but wished she had worded it more carefully knowing the coverage it would receive. Musk’s Stand On Daughter’s Identity Musk reignited attention on their fractured relationship during a live-streamed conversation with psychologist and conservative commentator Jordan Peterson where he discussed his disapproval of Wilson’s gender identity. Musk referred to Wilson using her deadname saying “I lost my son essentially.” In a separate post on X (formerly Twitter) Musk claimed that Wilson was “born gay and slightly autistic” and shared anecdotes about her childhood that Wilson denies. “She wasn’t gay and was shouting ‘fabulous!’ at age 4” Musk alleged. Wilson however said those stories weren’t true though she acknowledged that she exhibited feminine traits as a child. Wilson revealed she hadn’t spoken to Musk in about four years and refuses to let her identity be defined by him. “I’m not going to let someone else control the narrative of who I am” she said.
