Liverpool are reportedly prepared to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.
The Germany international has won numerous honours during his 10-year stay in Bavaria, including eight Bundesliga titles and the 2019-20 Champions League.
The 30-year-old remains a key part of the Bayern side, demonstrated by the fact he has started 23 of the club’s 24 Bundesliga matches this season.
However, it appears that his long association with the Bavarians could be drawing to a close due to his contract situation.
Bayern were believed to be close to reaching an agreement with Kimmich over a new deal, before it was recently revealed that the German giants had withdrawn their contract offer.

Why are Liverpool keen on Kimmich?
It is well known that Liverpool failed in their attempt to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi last summer.
That disappointment has been somewhat forgotten after Ryan Gravenberch established himself as a key part of the Liverpool midfield.
However, Liverpool will still be keen to make bolster their midfield options this summer, and Kimmich could be the perfect candidate due to his versatility.
Not only would he add to Liverpool’s engine room, but he would also offer the Reds a top-quality option at right-back, which could be crucial if Trent Alexander-Arnold departs for Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract.
