There has been a huge decline in the stock market for the last 7 days. Due to this, the lines of worry have started increasing on the forehead of investors. Crores of rupees of lakhs of people have been drowned in the stock market so far. In such a situation, a big relief has been given by the government. The government has maintained the interest rates on the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) as before. No change has been made in this. This means that whether you earn from the stock market or not, you will keep getting good income on the money deposited in PF.

Sources have said that EPFO has retained the interest rate of 8.25 percent on Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deposits for 2024-25. EPFO has maintained the interest rate even at a time when the stock market is continuously falling. EPFO has also used a part of its funds for the market to earn.

EPFO rates have increased earlier too

Earlier, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) had fixed the interest rate on EPF to 8.25 percent for 2023-24 in February 2024. Whereas in 2022-23 this interest rate was 8.15 percent. In March 2022, EPFO fixed the interest rate for its more than seven crore subscribers to 8.1 percent. This interest rate fixed for the financial year 2021-22 was then the lowest in 40 years. It was the lowest interest rate since 1977-78. Earlier in 2020-21, this interest rate was 8.5 percent.

CBT's big decision

The highest body to decide about EPFO is the Central Board of Trustees (CBT). In its meeting on Friday, the CBT decided to give 8.25 percent interest on EPF for 2024-25. After the decision of the CBT, the interest rate on EPF deposits for 2024-25 will be sent to the Finance Ministry for approval.

After getting approval from the Finance Ministry, the interest rate on EPF for 2024-25 will be credited to the accounts of more than seven crore subscribers of EPFO. EPFO credits interest only after getting approval from the government through the Finance Ministry.
