UP Weather: On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh meteorologists issued a warning, stating that the state is likely to see record-breaking temperatures in the months to come. They said that the heat has already shattered many records in the month of February without giving specifics. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this February was the eighth warmest since 1952.
Additionally, it said that the lowest temperature on February 28 was 18.2 degrees Celsius, marking only the sixth occasion since 1952 when the minimum temperature in February has surpassed 15 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the temperature has risen dramatically over the last few days in a number of Indian states, particularly the northern ones.
Dr. Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center, said on Friday that heat waves are predicted to affect parts of Uttar Pradesh later in March. According to Jagran.com, he said that these areas are also probably going to see more heat waves than in the last several years.
“Many Records Could Be Broken”
He gave specifics, saying that the heat in February rose because of 88 percent less rainfall than usual in January. A few areas, including Kanpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Varanasi, are anticipated to be affected by the heat waves, according to the experts.
He said that the heat is on the verge of breaking previous records this season and that the inhabitants of these areas could have to deal with mild to serious illnesses as a result of the heat. According to weather experts, May temperatures might reach above 50 degrees Celsius. They also said that while rain may fall sometimes in certain areas, it won’t be convenient for a prolonged period of time.
Additionally, the weather service advised locals to restrict needless trips and take preventative precautions. It also recommended that citizens take care of their meals and stay hydrated, noting that the meals had to include more seasonal fruits and vegetables.
