Rohit Sharma-led Team India continued its winning run at the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, beating a strong New Zealand side by 44 runs in the final Group A game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

After scoring 249 runs on a spin-friendly wicket, India’s spin quartet of Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakaravarthy spun a magic web around the Kiwis, bowling them out of 205 runs in 45.3 overs.

Making the most of the conditions on offer, the spinners accounted for nine wickets, of which five scalps went to Varun Chakaravarthy on Champions trophy debut.

Apart from spinners, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma also received praise from all quarters for the way he rotated his bowlers and never allowed the opposition to get away with the game. His judicious captaincy was one of the key reasons why Indian spinners dominated the BlackCaps throughout the run chase.

However, there was one individual who felt that Rohit Sharma was the most unimpressive captain India has ever had. Not because Rohit lacked the tactical awareness needed to succeed in the role but because of how he looks. Her name is Dr. Shama Mohamed, a national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress.

Taking to X, the Congress leader not only fat-shamed Rohit Sharma but also told him to lose weight in order to look impressive on the field.
