New Delhi: New Zealand and South Africa battled it out in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on March 5 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.
The Black Caps began their innings with Will Young and Rachin Ravindra at the crease. After Young was dismissed early Ravindra took charge and played a stellar knock reaching a well-deserved century.
Ravindras century was his fifth in One Day Internationals and what makes it even more remarkable is that all five centuries have come in ICC tournaments making him the New Zealand player with the most centuries in such events. He also became the first player since Shikhar Dhawan in 2013 to score two centuries in a single edition of the Champions Trophy.
Ravindras outstanding knock of 108 runs off 101 balls showcased his consistent brilliance in the format. His innings played a crucial role in setting a strong foundation for New Zealand in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy. The winner of this match will face India in the final as the Men in Blue secured their spot with a dominant victory over Australia in the first semi-final.
The match between South Africa and New Zealand is intriguing with South Africa entering the game undefeated in their previous encounters. In contrast New Zealand had one loss in the three matches they had played. Both teams are eager to perform well and secure a chance to face India in the final for an opportunity to claim victory.
