Question- What is a driving license?
Answer- A driver's license is an official document that gives a person legal permission to drive a vehicle. According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a driving license is mandatory for driving a vehicle. It contains a photograph of the license holder and a unique registration number (URN). There are many types of driving licenses. Such as-
Question- How do you get a driving license?
Answer- It is issued by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) or Regional Transport Office (RTO) of the state in which you live. For this, you have to go through a written test and road test process.
Question- What are the criteria for getting a driving license?
Answer- According to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the valid age for getting a driving license is 18 years. However, there are some provisions in this Act under which a driving license can be made even after the age of 16. If someone wants to get a driving license after the age of 16, then he will have to first take written permission from the parents or guardian. After the issuance of this license, he can drive only a gearless scooter or a two-wheeler with an engine capacity of up to 50 CC (cubic capacity).
After the age of 18, this license has to be updated. The process of getting this driving license is the same as getting a normal driving license.

Answer- For this, first of all, you have to apply by visiting the website of the Transport Department or the nearest RTO office. For this, a fixed fee has to be paid. Driving test has to be given within 6 months of getting the learning license. In this test, you have to show perfect driving skills. Such as driving in a straight line, turning, parking, reverse driving. Driving license is issued by RTO only after passing both these tests.

Answer- According to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, a driving license is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or till the age of the holder is 40 years (whichever is completed first). After the age of 40, the driving license is issued for 10 years and then it has to be renewed every 5 years.
A driving test has to be given for renewal within 1 year of the expiry of the driving license. This test ensures whether the applicant can drive the vehicle safely or not.

Answer- If someone has not renewed his driving license for a year, then his license will be cancelled. In such a situation, a new license will have to be made again.
